LONDOLOZANAZI (Caring for each other)

Recognizing the urgent need for an acceptable alternative form of youth development, and after careful consideration, it was decided to adopt the Londolozanani programme model for YA4C.  Under the challenges that the community of Knysna, especially teenagers are facing, YA4C combined the two different ideas of community and development by keeping teenagers and relevant beneficiaries in active and safe environment, in terms of creating, sharing and making a difference in the community by establishing Londolozanani, a programme for art & culture.

WHAT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED TO DATE

  • The Agents has connected Shoprite store in a project to support a needy family. On the 25th of March 2010, YA4C members went to Joyce Mkoko’s household for cleaning the house and delivering a food package form Shoprite.
  • The organization has managed to get some stakeholders (Shoprite, Postnet, Pick ‘n Pay and others) onboard to support its programmes and projects.
  • The number of members joining the organization especially the youth is rapidly growing.  From last year the organization had 12 members and currently there are 23 members registered in the organization.
